The landfill tax in Ireland has been increased today for the first time in six years. The landfill tax has been increased by €5, which is the maximum amount allowed by law. This raises the landfill tax from €15 (£12) to €20 (£16) for every tonne of waste that is sent to an authorised landfill facility.

McDonalds have utilised a fresh idea to marketing by having a billboard built which actually grows. The billboard, created for McDonalds by ad-maker Leo Burnett, contained different varieties of lettuce used by McDonalds which spelt out ”Fresh Salads” as the lettuce grew.Â

A 21 year old man has been crushed to death in an industrial accident at a SITA recycling centre in Tipton.  The young worker, who has not been named, is believed to have been crushed in a large piece of machinery within the recycling plant whilst trying to remove a piece of cardboard that was blocking the machine.Â
